3.1.4.2 Qualifying Examination Committee

A Qualifying Examination Committee (QEC), comprised of a minimum of three program faculty members, is chosen for each student by the Executive Committee of the PhD Program. The Primary Academic Advisor, Dissertation Chair, and an appointed representative of the Executive Committee will typically serve as the QEC to hear the oral research presentation and review the student’s record in preparation for Candidacy. Each Qualifying Examination Committee is chaired by a member of the Executive Committee to facilitate uniformity in the examination process. The Primary Academic Advisor may serve as a member or Chair of the Qualifying Examination Committee. The presentation will be scheduled and conducted using distance technology (Zoom or other meeting platform).
