3.1.4.3 Format of the Research Presentation
The oral research presentation format will vary according to the research topic of interest and focus of the research articles that comprise the dissertation. The HE 992 syllabus will provide more specific instructions for students. The QEC must give final approval of the presentation format prior to the presentation.
In general, the oral component of the Qualifying Examination entails the student giving a detailed oral presentation of the research that he/she has chosen, including a rationale, plan, and timeline for completion. During the presentation the Committee will ask the student questions that pertain to the research proposal, which can also tap into pertinent background information from the core curriculum and supplemental coursework that the student has taken.
